Squarespace — Polished, designer-quality templates with an all-in-one builder for sites, stores, and scheduling.
Verdict at a glance
Overall rating: 4/5 ★★★★☆
Standout: The most beautiful out-of-the-box templates, in a clean all-in-one platform.
Watch out: No permanent free plan, and it’s less flexible than Webflow or the Wix editor.
The go-to builder for creatives and small businesses who want a beautiful, cohesive site with minimal fuss.

Overview
Squarespace is known for award-winning, designer-quality templates and a clean all-in-one platform spanning websites, ecommerce, scheduling (Acuity), blogging, and email — plus a free custom domain for the first year on annual plans.
It is the best choice for a beautiful site out of the box. The trade-offs: there is no permanent free plan, and it is less customizable than Webflow or Wix’s open editor.

Recent changes
Squarespace has renamed and repriced its entire lineup. As verified on 2026-09-10, the plans are Basic at $19 a month, Core at $29, Plus at $49 and Advanced at $99, all billed annually, with annual billing advertised at up to 36% off. The Personal, Business, Commerce Basic and Commerce Advanced tiers this review was written against no longer exist, and the entry price has risen from $16 to $19. The practical difference is where the transaction fee falls away: Basic still charges 2% on online store sales, and it takes Core at $29 to reach 0%.
Frequently asked questions
Does Squarespace have a free plan?
No — Squarespace offers a 14-day free trial but no permanent free tier; the entry paid plan is Personal at $16/mo (billed annually), which includes a free custom domain for the first year.
Why does Squarespace charge transaction fees on some plans?
The Personal and Business plans add a transaction fee on top of payment-processor fees for ecommerce sales; upgrading to a Commerce plan removes Squarespace’s own transaction fee, which matters once a store does meaningful sales volume.
Is Squarespace better than Wix?
Squarespace generally produces more polished, cohesive designs out of the box; Wix offers a larger app ecosystem and more editing flexibility, including an AI site generator — see our Wix review for the comparison.
What is Squarespace’s rating on G2 and Capterra?
As of 2026-08-06, Squarespace holds 4.4/5 on G2 (1,136 reviews) and 4.5/5 on Capterra (3,402 reviews). See the ratings table above for links to the live pages.
