What a second of video actually costs
Credits are the only number that matters here, and Runway publishes the conversion: 625 credits buys 52 seconds of Gen-4.5, 2,250 buys 187 seconds and 9,500 buys 791 seconds. Divide the yearly price by that and the tiers separate sharply:

Cost per second falls 58% from Standard to Max. That inverts the usual advice to start small: if you are generating video regularly, Standard is the most expensive way to buy it, and 52 seconds a month is roughly two social cuts. Standard is a trial tier with a price on it rather than a working plan, and the credit maths is what tells you so.
⚠⚠ Credit burn scales with model, resolution and length, so these are the vendor’s own best-case conversions rather than what a real project consumes. Gen-4 Turbo stretches a credit roughly twice as far as Gen-4.5.
